This week we have been learning about the Earth's atmosphere OUR TRIP TO STARDOME On Tuesday 31st August, the Year 4 syndicate went to Stardome.
When we got there, we had morning tea and I had a juicy, red apple. We also got a long play on the playground!
Morning tea ended pretty quickly, so then we went into the dome and I took a giant deep breath before I went inside. Wow! The dome has some pretty cool stuff. The first thing I saw was Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, the stunning Gas Giants. Then I saw Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars, the Rocky Midgets. We then all went into the show room. There, we saw a show that told is facts about each planet.
After the show ended, a man came and talked to us about constellations in Auckland and I was amazed to see how many people could actually use constellations to locate or make out which direction they were at.
Later on, we had an education session and the guy that was teaching us told some students to be the planets in our Solar System. Then, he told is about comets and asteroids.
Finally, we has to leave, so I said “Bye! Bye!” and went cheerfully back to class. Earth Story
Once upon a time, there was nothing, silence, stillness. Suddenly, there was a gigantic explosion. Gas swirled around the ball of fire and created the galaxy. Then, stars were formed, the blue ones were scorching hot whereas the red ones are as cold as Antarctica. Some of them were not hot or cold. The yellow stars are the ones we see today. One very special star looked liked a big bulge. As the gas and rocks went into the flaming ball, it became hotter and bigger until it exploded and formed our Sun. the dust around the Sun clumped together to make rocks. They are our planets. The planets near the Sun were small, rocky, and hot. The planets far from the Sun were icy and cold. The third planet from the Sun wasn’t hot or cold, small or big, it was Earth. Rapidly, a chunk of rock smashed past the Earth and broke off chunks of Earth. This is our Moon. The outside of the Earth was hot and crispy and the inside was cool. So the inside of the Earth rose to the outside of the Earth and cooled it down. Suddenly, it started to rain, it rained for millions of years cooling the Earth down and forming mountains, rivers, rocks and nature. Then, small bits of stuff joined together to form things on Earth.

The Moon Do you know what a grey, rocky and Earth's satellite is? That’s right, my description is about the Earth's Moon.
In 1969, 20 July, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Adrian landed on the Moon, from then, many other astronauts have also landed on the Moon.
The Moon is 4.5 billion years old. The diameter of the Moon is 3476 kilometres. Its phases are New moon, Crescent moon, First quarter moon, Gibbous moon, Full moon and back again.
The Moon has no wind and it has no gravity. It is dark, dry and rocky. It has no atmosphere and because of that, the Moon has no protection so there are many craters on the Moon.
One day, I think I might become an astronaut (unlikely) so I can study the Moon and other amazing stars and planets!!!

The Sun is a big, hot star. It is 27 million degrees Fahrenheit. It is far too hot to land on or go near but it is still important to Earth!
· The Sun gives us light and heat. · We get vitamin D. · Plants can photo synthesise. · Solar energy-heats up solar shower. · Provides food for creatures.

This is my art doll, It is made out of tin foil and masking tape in the inside and then I painted it. I made the paper book at home and also the card board tea cup and the fan. I made the paper hat and I drew a music note on it because I like music. I did blue for my shirt and green for my pants because I like these colours. I chose black for my hair because I also like black.
On the first Sunday of the holidays, my family decided to go to Kelly Tarltons. When we got there, we had to wait in a long line to buy tickets to enter Kelly Tarltons, it took ages!!! When we got to the counter, the service women gave me a free “CREATOR” lego set, I was so excited, I wanted to open it immediately but my Dad said I could open it at home. We were in Kelly Tarltons in no time. First, we went to a place where there was a tank, and you got to put your hand into the freezing water and see how long you could put your hand it in, my hand was freezing!
Last week, I invited Eric over to my house and we played one hour straight computer on LF2 (Little Fighter 2) and Mathletics. After computer time, Eric and I decided to watch “Tom and Jerry The fast and the fury” on my television. The part that I enjoyed the most in video was when Butch kept punching Tom as if Tom was a robot. Later, Eric gave me one of his “Superflyers” cards that he brought from his house. Finally, Eric’s Mum came to pick Eric up, so we each waved goodbye and then Eric went home.
That was mostly all I did, but at least it was still nice time!
