We are a Year 4 class of 8 and 9 year olds at Wakaaranga School in Auckland, New Zealand. Our teacher's name is Miss Lindsay. TERM 4 NEWS AND UPDATES:
We had the Breakers come to school to play a game against our basketball teams and the teachers!! It was a lovely hot day and the Breakers showed amazing athletic skills! They were soooo very tall! Even Miss Lindsay looked short compared to them and she is tall!!
Today we had a visitor all the way from California in America. His name was Sam and he is a family friend of Bailee in Room 5b. He showed us where he lives on Google Earth and talked about the differences between New Zealand and California! He is in Grade 5 and has about 37 children in his class!
Inter School Athletics was an absolute blast! We all competed in our events with enthusiasm and energy and felt very proud to be a Wakaaranga student!! Have a look at the slideshow! It was raining so there were not many photos taken!
This is our new tool called Jing. We are creating videos about how to use different web tools. We are still learning how to embed them on our wiki!!
We had a special visitor on Wednesday 27 October. His name was Dr Greg Lindsay, a vet from Franklin Vets!!
Our Cultural/Grandparents Day will be held on Tuesday 9 November. Invite your grandparents or someone special and dress up in your cultural costume!! 11am-1.30pm
On Tuesday 12th October students from Wakaaranga participated in the inter schools cross country at Lloyd Elsmore park. Everyone put in 100% and we had some wonderful placings!!! Have a look at the photos under our SCHOOL SPORTS section!!
TERM 3 NEWS AND UPDATES:
On Monday 6 September we had our School Cross Country. We ran up Skilling Place, along Prince Regent and down into the reserve and back to school. Check out our photos!!
On Tuesday 31 August we went to the Stardome in One Tree Hill Domain. We really enjoyed the space exploration experience and the education session. Have a look at the photos!!
Swimming Lessons at Lloyd Elsmore: Check out the photos from our swimming lessons! Samuel was the chief photographer and he was trying to take action photos!!
Term 3 learning: We are using a new web tool called
It is a website where we can create our own comic strips! Check out our first one about space!!
In week one, term 3 we had art classes with Mrs Murray. We made these figures from a single piece of tinfoil which we wrapped with masking tape. We then embellished our figure with materials that represent our culture. Check out the slideshow of our figurines!
Here is a new tool we are learning about: www.tagxedo.com. This is a picture showing the three trees and our waka using words about Wakaaranga School.
Today we had the Bell Tea guy come to our school to share information about how tea leaves are grown, picked, packed and sent to NZ. There are some photos of us trying to "sip and slurp". This is the technique that the Bell Tea testers use when they are sampling the new types of tea! The Bell Tea guy thinks we have some tea tasters in the making!
We have created a new glogster about our new topic. Check it out!!
Today we had a paleontologist come to talk to our class about fossils! His name was Dr Neville Hudson and he is from the University of Auckland! Check out our photos!

We have been learning about geography of the world and have added a cluster map to see where people are viewing our wiki from!! If you know people overseas please tell them about our wiki so we can have more red dots on our map!!
